Another recent initiative to reduce packaging is our new smaller Country Life milk label, which achieves a 7% saving in materials.
Packaging
As important as it is to recycle, we believe in the hierarchy of: reduce, reuse, and—finally—recycle. Because of this, we are continuously trying to find new and better ways of reducing the amount of packaging we use in the first place.
We have signed the Courtauld Commitment—a voluntary agreement geared to reducing packaging and food waste in household bins—and take an active role in discussing its development beyond 2010.
With our suppliers, we are working towards the aim of including 10% recycled material in all our milk bottles by 2010.
