Vision and values
Our values are the foundation on which we are developing a robust Corporate Responsibility programme for Dairy Crest. While we have always taken CR seriously, we recognise the need to improve the way we manage and communicate our activities. We also believe that we should align our CR programme more closely with the way we do business. This will bring advantages on several fronts. First, it will help us ensure that everyone at Dairy Crest feels that they work in a safe and respectful environment, which is also vital for attracting and retaining good people. In addition, a better alignment will help us to grow, add shareholder value, and move ahead in the direction required by our consumers, customers and the communities in which we work.
Values in action
Over the last 12 months we have advanced considerably in collating and integrating all the solid CR work already in progress. While we plan to make further strides next year, we are showing how much ground we have covered this year by publishing our strategy and commitment to CR across four key areas for 2009/2010: Workplace, Marketplace, Community and Environment. This illustrates how we have embedded CR responsibilities in our day-to-day activities and behaviour.
